One of the headache issues for many business owners is that a certain amount of money is spent on advertising every month but fails to increase the customers, or spending money to build a corporate website but fails to increase the website traffic, and marketing activities have been stagnant. What is the root cause? The best way for an enterprise to promote product sales is to put products and services in front of potential customers. Marketing is the decision-making of an enterprise on sales, promotion, and exposure points, thinking through how to launch products into the market in the most efficient way.
In the previous article (click here), we have talked about:
1.Social Media Marketing
2.Content Marketing
3.Email Marketing
Now, let’s talk about the other means of digital marketing.
4.WhatsApp Marketing
It’s getting common to use communication software to strengthen contact with customers and consolidate the relationship with customers. Among them, WhatsApp is the most popular communication software for Hong Kong people. It can make instant calls, send texts, pictures, videos, and file messages, and it is free of charge. WhatsApp has launched a Business version, which is more convenient for merchants to use, so many merchants will use WhatsApp to promote products or services to potential customers.
In addition to strengthening contact with existing customers, there has been a new trend where business owners will push their products or service in various WhatsApp groups, hoping group members will forward the information to their friends. However, this kind of WhatsApp group information sharing can’t be classified as marketing because it does not directly contact customers or potential customers.
5.Online Advertising (Paid Ads)
Online advertising refers to the marketing method of gaining exposure by paying online platforms. Common types of advertisements include Google Ads, Facebook Ads, IG Ads, YouTube Ads, and Web Banner Ads. By paying to different platforms, the advertising content can get higher exposure and traffic. According to the advertisement settings, you can choose to distribute the advertising content to the designated target groups.
Among the many paid advertisements, Google Ad is relatively prominent because it is an active behavior (search) of the potential customers, rather than passively being pushed some relevant information to them. When users search for the information via Google, it has already determined that users are interested in it, and displaying advertisements will greatly increase the success rate.
6.KOL/Micro-influencer Marketing
Influencer marketing refers to inviting influencers (KOL/Micro-influencer) to cooperate and use their fame or inherent fan base to promote brands or products, similar to inviting them as spokespersons in traditional marketing. KOL/Micro-influencer fees are different according to their reputation, and the charging is also very diverse. In addition to paying a one-off endorsement fee directly, they also distribute profits based on conversion rate and sales volume, or cooperate in the format of product sponsorship.
It is worth noting that when a business owner is considering inviting an influencer to promote the products, he or she must consider if the audience of this influencer fits the target customer group. With the emergence of more and more influencers, in many cases, they can only provide the number of fans but not background information of fans, or other kinds of deeper analysis. This may result in promoting products in not the best channels.
7.Search Engine Optimization (SEO)
Search engine optimization refers to improving the natural ranking of the website on search engines, so that the brand can gain more exposure opportunities at a lower cost. Common search engines are Google, Yahoo!, etc. When searching for a keyword, the displayed search results, excluding advertisements, are the “natural ranking”. This ranking does not appear randomly, it is formulated through a series of systematic analysis and website quality scoring. Therefore, improving the SEO of your webpage will allow you to push your webpage to the homepage without any cost and reach potential customers.
The above seven are emerging and effective digital marketing techniques. Many companies have been using a single marketing method to maintain their business, and soon reached the bottleneck in sales, and the profit stagnated. An all-rounded marketing plan should be able to integrate marketing strategies of different channels so as to maximize the benefits. More importantly, enterprises need to formulate a marketing plan according to their own needs – when, what method to use, what type of marketing content to promote, what is the theme of the content, and so on.
